“We stayed during the recent heatwave and the fan in the room was very poor, which resulted in 2 sleepless nights!”

“The room was spacious with a good amount of storage whilst the room did not have air conditioning it was cool and a comfortable temperature, which to say it was 30 degrees outside was good. There was a fan available, but we didn't need to use it. Room was clean and the bathroom was acceptably clean. There was however slight mould spots on some of the grouting and sealant in the shower. “Firstly, on arrival the allocated bays all had bollards on. I called up and a staff member eventually came out and removed this. Parking is literally opposite the hotel and at £15 a night - till 1pm the following day I was told. Checking in was very easy - I did note the staff member asked if they could do anything for me. “Rooms were clean, quiet and had everything you needed. This hotel is room only. You have a key for the front door to come in and out and key for your room. There is a number to contact the owners but only saw them when checking in. Rooms provide tea/coffee and bottled water. It’s a no nonsense hotel which has everything you need in your room for your stay.”

“I booked a room specifically for the air conditioning on the two hottest nights of the week. I booked the room through Expedia and checked and double checked that the room was listed as having air conditioning. When I arrived I was told the room did not have air conditioning and none were available. I had no other option to stay on such short notice and could not have got a refund anyway as it was booked through a third party. This is completely unacceptable and, quite frankly, unforgivable.”

“We where very happy with all facility. Overall the only problem we personally was the 3 steps going in and out of the property. The last step out is very steep and would have liked something to hold on too”

“Had to cancel our trip due to a medical emergency and flight cancellation. Contacted all hotels we had booked—five refunded us without issue. Even Ryanair did. Cairn Hotel was the only one that flat-out refused, no empathy, no flexibility, not even a partial credit. I explained everything, even pleaded—but they just hid behind their “policy.” I could’ve paid more for the flexible rate, but budget was tight. Shame, because we were really looking forward to staying. Very disappointing experience.”

“Our room had plenty of space iron/ironing board/hairdryer all provided as well as toiletries Plenty of choice for breakfast and a small but tasty menu in the evening I think there was maintenance work ongoing and the hotel does need a comprehensive overhaul Plenty of parking spaces but location is right in the centre and we didn’t use our car at all during the stay Stars of the break were the staff so friendly and helpful and always had a smile on their faces Thank you !”

“Very quirky hotel. Right in the centre and reasonably priced. Lovely spacious rooms and a very comfortable large bed. Breakfast was delicious. Well worth the stay and would definitely stay again.”
