“Constant power outages , club staff at the time were rude and overheard them complaining about my call to them , talking to reception. Completely taken out of context to make them feel justified to whinge about it. Was appalled at that club staffer. Did not enter the club that visit.”

Soon after arrival there was loud drilling next door as they did repairs, then a strange man knocked on the door because he wanted to check our toilet for "stickers." “Pleasant reception staff on arrival. Room a good size and had a great view over the lake. Would stay there again if in the area. My pet peeve is where the range of pump soap/conditioner etc are mounted in poor locations. It was difficult for me to use the soap dispenser beside the hand basin as it had been installed against the frame of the mirror. It was no deal breaker, just a peeve!”

Lovely 1920s building, helpful staff, attractive bar, good location for many sites and on a number of bus routes (Canberra is not a very pedestrian-friendly city). Only quibble would be that, as one of the, possibly the, leading hotel(s) in the Commonwealth capital, a wider selection of Australian wines, and notably some from the smaller wine regions (for example, Beechworth, VIC) could be available.”
