Summary:
Casa Rio in Surfside is a brand-new, 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath home with a private swimming pool in an upscale neighborhood in Surfside, between Potrero and Flamingo. It has a main house and a separate casita for the privacy of additional guests.
The Space:
Three of the four bedrooms have king-size beds, and the fourth has two queen beds. There are three full bathrooms with showers, one full bathroom with a tub, and a half-bath outside.
This 321-square-meter home is fully air-conditioned and has a total of five televisions, as well as good Wi-Fi.
The sparkling swimming pool is at the center of the home, surrounded by gardens and a patio with local horticulture in front and in back. The back yard has a covered area with a gas grill, covered outdoor kitchen and outdoor dining table that seats six. This area is covered by a pergola and also features a small workout area in the back for yoga or exercise on the stationary bike.
The kitchen has the latest in stainless-steel appliances, including an electric stove, vent hood, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. The island is made with a beautiful blue ocean granite that complements the white cabinets and counters.
The round indoor dining table, made from a native tree, seats six people. The kitchen island seats four more, and the outdoor table seats six by the pool.
The house includes a security doorbell, door knob with code for entry into the property and keys for every door. It’s in a very safe neighborhood where neighbors watch out for each other.
The property has a washer and dryer, and maid service is available.

Please note that this property is not pet-friendly due to house and condominium rules. No exceptions will be made, and emotional support animals are not permitted. If guests arrive at check-in with pets that have not been verified and approved, access to the property will be denied.

The Neighborhood:
Playa Potrero
Offering easy access to three beaches (Potrero, Penca and Prieta), this town combines upscale lodging options with the charm of a traditional Costa Rican town (think central plaza with church, school and soccer field).
There are plenty of restaurants, shops and other conveniences, and the downtown area has two mini supers (convenience stores), as well as a commercial plaza with a coffee shop, a hairdresser and other businesses.
Some of the liveliest nightlife in the region can be found at Las Brisas Bar, right on the beach, though it’s normally hopping only on Wednesdays (Ladies’ Night).
Potrero has several nice housing developments with “Villagio” in the name, popular among Italians and other expats. You can find Italian gelato shops, Costa Rican sodas (small, affordable restaurants) and hotels in a range of prices (Pitaya Lodge, Bahía La Esmeralda, Hotel Isolina, Bahía del Sol).
Just to the south of Potrero lie all the attractions of Surfside, and to the north is a beautiful, hilly drive along the ocean, ending at the Mediterranean-style village of Las Catalinas. Potrero is within easy striking distance of several beaches, and it’s a great base to explore the entire region — for a sampler of both the high-end and the humble.
Getting Around:

For short jaunts to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are a popular choice for convenient mobility. Alternatively, you can opt for a bicycle to navigate the town and its surroundings.

While taxis are available, they may be somewhat challenging to find. Many locals rely on buses for transportation, although there is a limited selection of routes and schedules. Private shuttles are an excellent choice for reaching nearby destinations, and numerous tour companies offer transportation to and from their tours.
