Washington Family Property, Lower Carriage House in Old Town on 107 S Lee Street

Oldest functioning property in Old Town dating back to 1750. Originally built by Lawrence Washington, George Washington’s half-brother, who then passed the property to our founding father. Walk in the footsteps of authentic American history.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, ground level. One of two apartments that make up the carriage house on this 1700’s era historical property. This unit has a full kitchen and a washer/dryer, large smart TV, and an adorable, comfy reading nook. Updated appliances along with a small electric fireplace for ambiance (not wood due to guest safety) provide for a wonderful stay in Old Town on the oldest functioning property in Old Town, dating back to 1750. The charm and location are incomparable.

Staying just off King Street near the river on Halloween was an unforgettable and joyful experience - we had no idea that we were going to the part of Old Town blocked off the for Halloween festivities. We were able to find the parking garage very close to our apartment and the Warehouse, the restaurant where we had a dinner reservation, was fantastic and a half a block up King Street, just around the corner... the river - just a block in the other direction. This tiny apartment suited the two of us perfectly - as we were there for my husband to perform all day long on King Street. We are in our mid to late 70s and the extra alcove bed was great, because we like our own beds. We would have also loved it as a young family with 3 kids with the trundle bed and alcove bed.

What a great stay! Right in the heart of Old Town Alexandria! A short walk from everything we wanted to do! We loved the quaint layout of the carriage house! We had everything we needed! Owner was very responsive to one minor concern we had. We will definitely stay here again!

We had such a great stay at 107 South Lee Street! The house is full of Old Town charm but still has all the modern comforts you’d want. You really can’t beat the location — just a short walk to King Street, great restaurants, cute shops, and the waterfront.The home was super clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The bed were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked, and we loved having coffee in the morning while watching the neighborhood wake up. It honestly felt like home the minute we walked in.The host was super friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in was a breeze. We’d definitely stay here again next time we’re in Alexandria!

The Washington Family Property is beautifully situated in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria. The property was easy to find and access was made simple thanks to great host instructions. We found the kitchen to be equipped with basic implements that suited our needs well for our 2 night stay. The studio was very clean with plenty of linens for the length of our stay. King St Metro was a pleasant walk 20 minutes, about a mile away, straight up King St. Our host was very responsive to my question about parking and provided several options in the area, we were able to get a parking garage right across the street for very reasonable! Overall we had a lovely stay and would come again!

Great location - steps to everything. Great Host- very responsive. Lovely stay! We pulled out the trundle bed the second night because we’re used to a king bed. Mr. is tall so he appreciated the very tall shower head. Unexpected- a late night trumpet serenade was very romantic and it turns out a famous local guy!

Wonderful location

This property is in a perfect location. Steps to restaurants and shops. We did have a rental car and there were several parking areas close by However….You do not need a car. The bus and trolly stops were close and took you to the train station. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stay here again!!!

Great Home, Great Location

I can't say enough good things about this property and host. Not only is it in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria, the newly renovated studio is nicely appointed and cozy. The bed was super comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable, including a wine fridge. The bathroom was clean, and the shower worked well. It also included a washer/dryer in case you need it. Garage parking is close by and reasonably priced, and once parked, you can just roam King Street and enjoy any of the local restaurants and tavern. The host was super communicative and got back to me promptly when I had questions. I was visiting for work but will definitely bring my wife back and stay here in the near future.

Historic vibe with modern amenities

We loved our weekend in Old Town Alexandria and this place was a key part of it! The location is fantastic - took a train to Alexandria and then Uber to the place, so we didn't need a car all weekend. Tons of pubs/restaurants/activities going on within walking distance. Had a few hiccups with the heat and wifi, but the owner was responsive and took care of everything. Would def stay here again!

Pros and cons

Overall the location was great but it was very noisy/rowdy in the late night hours due to its proximity to King St. The 2nd night, while trying to fall asleep at 1:30am, there was a very loud street sweeper that went back and forth on the street 5 times. So loud we were unable to fall asleep until it finally finished. We had no wifi the 6 days we were there. We contacted the property manager and he said they were having issues & outages through out the area. We were unable to find a way to turn on the recessed lights which made the room very dark. FYI...the bathroom is super tiny!! The double bed was awkward in that it butted up to the wall and the mattress was not comfortable for 2 people. My husband ended up sleeping in the little reading area which worked out better for both of us. The kitchen was great. Overall it was a good location and it provided what we needed.

Cozy and close to the action!

My husband and I stayed from 10/19-11/1 and enjoyed our stay. It was steps away from King St with all the restaurants and close to the Potomac River. There are also various shops and several walking tours. I provided feedback to the owner upon our departure. The space is not “short people” friendly as the shower stream was very high and there were no mirrors that we could use as those were high as well. The bed area did not have shelves to use for our phones to be within reach and the internet was a bit spotty so it needed to be restarted throughout our stay. Overall though, we had a wonderful stay and would choose this location again should we visit in the future! Thomas was very easy to reach and always checked to see if we needed anything. We were very pleased!

Perfect space, perfect location

This rental is perfect for 1-2 guests. Has all the amenities and steps away from King Street restaurants and the water. King Street metro is about 15-20min walk. Would definitely stay here again! Thomas was also very responsive to messages.

Incredible location!

Wow- this might be one of my favorite places I’ve stayed! My husband and I were visiting DC for the first time and decided to stay in old town Alexandria and this place was PERFECT! Literally a few steps away from all of the amazing restaurants and shops, but still tucked away enough to feel private. We had so much fun walking to coffee shops every morning and exploring the beautiful houses around Alexandria! We paid to park right across the street, and the metro was only a short (and scenic!) walk away so that made things very easy. Such a fun town and fun experience! I would highly recommend- you can’t get a location better than this one! And the house was soo cute and cozy!
