“Wonderful experience there”

“Reception staff were very helpful but restaurant staff were slow to serve. There were very few customers and after giving us the menu and us waiting half an hour, I had to find a different member of staff to come and take my order. This said the restaurant staff were courteous and friendly.”

“Just a one night stop on business so no time to investigate in detail but very friendly and helpful staff and a very nice room. Not a big room but nicely furnished and equipped with a kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and a couple of pods, tv, iron and board, etc. comfortable bed. Overall a nice comfortable night’s stay.”

“Breakfast still needs a lot of work to bring it up to an acceptable standard. Slow service and powdered egg for scrambled egg is not good enough”

“Hotel in posizione strategica a pochi passi da Colchester, parcheggio dietro la struttura. Mi hanno contattato subito dopo la prenotazione per darmi tutte le informazioni via whatsapp, gentilissimi e attenti. La camera pulita. Potrebbe risultare piccola per chi è alto e robusto, soprattutto se in coppia ma all'interno è presente davvero tutto. ”

“The rooms. at the Essex Golf and Country Club are very nice and super clean. Be aware there is no in-room ac that we could find and just the smallest desk fan in the room but perhaps this is only an issue for 3 weeks a year! We arrived late (9.30pm) and check was smooth, went to the room and unpacked and notice in the room directory suggested the bar was open until 10.30pm. We meander up only to be informed that last orders was at 10pm so we would only be permitted to purchase one drink. Then...

“Hotel ideally situated just off the A12. But there is no road noise that disturbed our sleep. Room was nice and clean well stocked with tea and coffee, soap, shampoo, hairdryer and iron. Breakfast was very good and kept us topped up for most of the day. Although we didn't eat in the hotel, the menu had enough variety and was decently priced. “This is a great hotel. The staff are some of the best hotel staff I’ve met. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was huge so big the tv remote didn’t work from the bed. We had a garden room with a balcony looking over the grounds. We stayed during one of the many heat waves this year so the view was more like Africa than Essex. On that note there was no AC in the room. They’d provided fans and an air cooler already when we arrived and the room had a ceiling fan which kept the room remarkably...

“This place is a little dated and in dire need of some TLC. A little time or money spent on the grounds could make this place amazing again, starting with the outsides. It is cheap enough to stay and the rooms although a little dated have great flooring all around including the bathrooms. The staff we interacted with were all friendly but they were a little off putting everytime we went past the reception there would be staff hanging around outside which made you feel uncomfortable, it was sunny...
