“VERY clean, inside & out. Building & area is old & rundown, but it is kept very clean. Staff was helpful about the area. No elevator & we were on the 2nd floor, but we survived. :) We stayed 2 nights. Would stay here again if we ever come back. Nice room for the price.”

“The best hotel in Thunder Bay. I saw pool staff controlling pull when I swam at 16:00 for one hour and 18:00 and in evenings ... pool limited people in pool at 22:00 to 23:00 I was alone. I stayed 10 days. They had glutine free muffins breakfast was from 05:00 to 10:00. As my father had passed away and I had much stress I never woke up before 10:00 so I never had breakfast. “When I arrived. The instructions for check in were very clear and I was able to follow them perfectly with no confusion. When I got to the room. It was clean and smelled fresh. The bed was comfy, and didn’t poke me. Tons of outlets around the room to charge my phone. I didn’t have a block to charge some of my other devices but they had usb ports built into the outlets. “The neighbourhood is questionable, outside of the building looks kind of rundown. Inside was actually surprisingly clean, bed and bath included. Wifi is better than some of the other higher end hotels given it has its own modem in room. It's quite adequate and comfortable enough for a 1 night stay over for me.”

“This is an interesting heritage property. The rooms are new and modern and quite large. Parking was a problem when I arrived (perhaps due to the hospital next door). The neighbourhood is OK but on the edge of a run down area. My room was in the basement (not as bad as it sounds). Grounds were a little unkempt. Staff OK but directions to room were unclear (down the stairs)”

“My partner and I stayed two nights with our 1 year old pup and had a great time. The roads up the Gunflint were well plowed and the hosts gave us instructions for an easy self check-in. The room was affordable, clean, the bed was comfortable, and the upstairs shared kitchen/community space has a large deck overlooking the lake. Hosts were great with communication.”

“what a beautiful area, at the end of the gunflint trail. i was there before ice out so it was very quiet, beautiful surroundings and a very comfortable room. nice clean bathroom with good shower. this would be a perfect place to stay before and/or after a canoe trip into the BWCA. make sure you have everything you want because it is an hour drive into Grand Marais, that is part of the beauty of this place. i had great communication from the property owners, i will definitely staying there again.”

“Very interesting historic hotel where the couple who run it have recreated the 60’s. There was s really good live band giving a 2 hour concert on Saturday evening. The basement is a recreated dry games bar stylised on the 60’s. Interesting art work on the walls everywhere but no TV in our room or coffee maker etc. Step back in time!”
