The animals are delightful and our room overlooking the pond was super warm and cozy on a cool, rainy day. Every detail has been considered to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. “Very nice hotel . We stayed there with our kids and enjoyed the breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Hilo is a small town with not much to do . The hotel is 30 minutes from the volcanos national park and 2-3 minutes from the downtown. ”

“VFI is very close to Volcano National Park and it was the main reason why we chose to stay here. The house is nestled in the rainforest with a short drive from the main road so its very quiet. Our room is spacious with many windows facing the rainforest and a big patio. Our room is comfortable and pleasant. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. The host, Jon, is also a very nice guy and approachable. Breakfast is a grab and go and has plenty of fresh fruits which is a bonus! ”

“Pros: This is our first time staying at a lodge like this, so close to nature, just like camping. You will hear coqui frog whole night & seeing them jumping next to your door step. Animals free roaming, peacocks, ducks, chicken. Kids loved it. Cons: There is barely any light at night in the Property…so if you come back late, it’s a bit challenging to find your cabin.”
