“Wow, where to start? My room was dirty- sticky debris on the floor and on the counter in the bathroom. I didn’t even want to walk in the room with my shoes and off it was so grimy. Sheets smelled clean but looked dirty (e.g. hair, stains). There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke and at one point I could see it wafting in the hallway despite the rooms being non-smoking. Our daughter was a student at U of M and we have stayed at many of the on-campus hotels throughout the years. The Vanguard is in a class of its own! I can't wait to stay there again!!! “My bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious. I did read in advance that the kitchens were not stocked- you would have to ask the front desk for supplies like utensils and glasses, which I did. The only thing in the kitchen was a kitchen towel and a small packet of dishwasher detergent. But there wasn't a dishwasher, so cleaning your borrowed kitchen items with dishwasher detergent powder is not exactly normal. They should have little bottles of dish soap.
