“Superb pub and rooms steeped in local history - Robert Plant started his career here playing blues guitar aged 15 in the upstairs blues club (sadly not there anymore but the history is palpable). The pub is a treasure trove of history, and so well preserved, from the original staircases and ceramic tiling on the walls, to the original bar. My room was just sheer excellence. “Bedrooms clean and comfortable but no food of any kind available. As a place for a town centre overnight stay OK but that’s about it.”

“Basic room, only given one towel. Breakfast was pricy and horrendously bad.”

“Our stay was not the best. Dirty cups in room, no milk, very hot room. Asked for a fan which we did receive but it was broken. On a having a shower the head of the shower flew off and hit me. Food basic, at breakfast poached eggs were hard and u only got half a slice of bread. The staff were good, and when i made a complaint i did get my money back. Overall i would never stay here agsin.”

“Nothing good to say. It was very run down shower tap coming away from wall no hot water ,floor was wet in main area. painted tiles which was peeling away. Pillows were flat . It was a no smoking and it smelt of stale cigarette smoke ”

“The room was very noisy as it faced the main road and there was a lot of traffic noise. The room was clean but quite cold and the duvet was very thin. ”

“We enjoyed our recent stay in a ground floor, twin bed, en-suite room. There was handy parking, a friendly welcome, a lovely clean and comfortable room, and delicious breakfast. Our hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming, the room was warm and cosy, and we would be happy to stay again.”
