Villa in collina tra olivi e taverne
Ottima accoglienza, proprietario molto gentile, casa super attrezzata. La posizione è strategica per visitare le spiagge più belle di Creta si trova a poca distanza dal mare ma in collina in posizione panoramica e molto ben ventilata. La piscina è bella e il villaggio è molto carino, con due taverne stupende. La casa è spaziosa è molto comoda anche per sei persone.

Beautiful villa
Beautiful setting in a small village. Sea views, beach about a 10 min car journey. Fabulous pool and good quality sun loungers. Well equipped villa with everything you need to cook or BBQ. Great local, friendly taverna 2 mins walk away. Host Manolis was so helpful, responding to any query very quickly and providing us with lots of Cretan specialties and treats. We had a great stay - wish we had booked for longer !

Perfect Holiday and Host
Lovely Villa in a great semi-remote location, beautiful grounds, garden furniture and pool which we all hugely appreciated and enjoyed We had everything we needed already there, but host Manos ensured we had an amazing stay, by leaving a welcome hamper of food and drink, bringing more lovely homemade treats during our stay and was there if we needed anything else in super fast time There are 2 Tavernas within walking distance and a shop not too far by car, as well as the lovely Kolymvari just over 5 minutes away with its shops, restaurants and harbour Would happily stay here again without hesitation

Unexpectable experience!!
We booked this Villa for 10 days during the wintertime!!! We saw the photos firstly and the reviews which were unbelievable and that's it!! When we arrived we saw many differences at the villa. The Villa is more beautiful than the photos!!! New fence, new doors, new garage area, what a surprise!!! The pool of course as every guest mentioned is fantastic! Manolis informed us that he also changed all the mattresses. We had such a nice sleep!! 10 days resting, eating, and drinking local wine. We also had the opportunity to meet Manolis who gave us many ideas for things to do during this no-tourist period. Manolis was (as all the reviews mention) very generous and he make as feel like home! We will be back!!

A wonderful place to relax - a great base for exploring Crete
The villa looked great in the photos - and lived up to all our expectations. The pool is delightful and the en suite bathrooms for all three rooms plus the huge beds are all great. Manos is an excellent host - quick to communicate, eager to help, full of useful advice about the area and generous with his gifts!

One of the best - fantastic stay
Having stayed on Crete 3 times now, can definitely say this is our favourite - Villa Katerina is a fantastic place to stay with the family - if you want seclusion but also being within a v.short drive to beaches and restaurants ( there are 3 within walking distance as well) - one of the best pools we have had and great bedrooms, air conditioning that works very well - finally, the owner, Manos is great to work with - very nice welcome gifts and then brought further gifts during our stay - all local produce - thanks to Manos for being such a great host - will hope to return

Amazing Holiday!
Just a fantastic holiday! Beautiful villa which has everything you could possibly need. The pool is beautiful and so relaxing. Manos we can’t thank you enough for all your help and generosity. We hired a car and got to see the Mose beautiful sunsets and beaches. Stunning food at the local restaurants. Can’t fault this holiday and will be back! We have older kids ages 14 and 17 and they just loved it! Thank you xx

The perfect villa in Western Crete
I’m not sure what impressed us more between the host and the villa itself. This was an unbelievably well executed Holiday stay from check-in to check-out. First, about the host. He’s incredible! Affable, earnest, helpful, flexible, and a wonderful person with whom to interact. He takes your vacation stay seriously and sees to it personally that you have a wonderful time. There’s a notebook in the villa of what to do and where to go with his recommendations. You arrive and the refrigerator is stocked with treats and local specialties. He’s responsive to inquiries/requests and flexible to your preferences. This is the host I want for every VRBO, forever. He’s really that good. The villa itself is gorgeous. The little village of Spilia is wonderful! Partially up the mountain with views to the Mediterranean (from the villa’s back yard!). A couple of delicious local taverns within walking distance. 1km up the hill is the cave/historical attraction/Orthodox church of St. John the Hermit. The villa itself was pristine, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The pool was an extravagance our daughters enjoyed daily. There’s an outdoor downstairs table set in the shade of the upstairs balcony with views of the town, mountains, and sea; we ate at that table daily. The furnishings are attractive, comfortable, as pictured, and exactly what I would wish for on this type of stay. Air conditioners by room let everyone set their preference for comfort. And the location gave us 30-60 minute driving access to pretty much everything the prefecture of Chania has to offer, from Southwest beaches (e.g. Elafonissi) to old town Chania proper. We chose this villa because every review seemed to rave about how great the place was. They were spot on. If you’re considering a stay in/around Chania, I wouldn’t even consider another location. Thank you!

What a Gem

Excellent time in West Crete in the winter time
We were having a hard time writing a review of this home because we don’t want anyone else to know about it. This Villa is spectacular. Close attention was paid to every part of this house. It is all remodeled (new cabins in the bathrooms) and clean. The layout is Perfect for any family. The pictures do not do any justice as to the size of the home. The outdoor view from ground floor and first floor is just beautiful. There are plenty of places to sit and relax. The heated and salted pool is the perfect size with lounge chairs surrounding it. I confirm that the salted water is amazing and you make feel much better than being in a conventional pool. We took a risk of being in December in this villa but we never regreted. The combination of a heated pool and a fireplace made our holidays perfect.Manolis was absolutely wonderful and if there were any problems he was available by phone immediately. Manolis was extremely accommodating and truly made us feel at home. I have stayed in the area for many years and so far this is my favorite of all my rentals in the West Crete area. Ballos ,Elafonissi and Chania were so nice at this time of the year . We also went to some secret villages and local taverns where Manolis suggested. The location of the Villa is ideal to explore the region of West Crete.Thank you Manolis for lending me and my family your home. It’s a week we will never forget.

Peace and tranquility!!!
What a fabulous treat. The house was immaculate, beautifully furnished, and fully equipped. The pool is salted and heated and it was amazing to swim when it s raining.!!! First time in my life in a salted pool, I won't book something different in the future! The sea view from both first and second floor is amazing. During the night when the weather was good we could see so many stars!!. We loved the area too, a nice traditional tavern in walking distance. More restaurants you can find in less that 5 minutes drive. The villa is situated in a perfect location to explore the West Crete. We were not so lucky regarding the weather conditions in November but the Villa and the owner Manolis made us feel at home and we had a great time. Some more words about Manolis. Although he was sick during our stay he was always available to help us and give us the best options!!! Moreover, the welcome pack he prepared for us was the best we ever had!! We will come again!!!

Wonderful Villa in West Crete
We made a fantastic decision by choosing this Villa. There are 3 bedrooms and it is very important that there are 3 ensuite bathrooms. When we arrived Manolis the owner, made us feel at home. The fridge was full of local products, coffee, honey and so many other things we couldn't imagine that provided to us. The best welcome pack we ever had. Manolis who was really helpful during our stay had already printed some tips on things to do and alternatives depending on the weather. We followed some of them and we definitely go again to do most of his list. Taverns, wineries., secret small villages, gorges, and so many other things...Last by not least the pool....Fantastic chlorine-free, heated we really enjoyed it!!! Thank you Manolis, see you probably next June!!

An ideal place for friends ot family!!!
Well as most of visitors before choosing a villa i read the reviews.So the reviews about Villa Katerina were perfect!!!I don't have many things to add...The villa has everything you may need.The location is fantastic, the salted pool is unique first time in my life i enjoyed a pool so much.No chemicals no red eyes anymore.My grandfather is from Greece and i have heard a lot of stories about Cretan hospitality.I know that every guest who stayed at the Villa mention Manolis i read so many comments.I will add another one.He is one of the most intelligent and interesting person i have ever met.We all enjoyed our conversations during his visits. Grate sense of humour very helpful and so generous..We booked for the next year already.

Great Villa, Amazing Host
This villa was perfect for our family, including two children under 5 and a Grandma! Maniolis was a wonderful and generous host, even bringing Grandma a cake on her birthday while we had dinner at the local Taverna. Spilia is a good spot to launch day trips around the rest of the area, but you can also relax at the villa with plenty of room for everyone. Highly Recommended.

Great Location and Host plus fantastic Pool
We had a great time at Villa Katarina. Manolis, the owner, is extremly friendly and accomodating. We have travelled a lot in several countries and he easily ranks amongst the best hosts (if not the best) we ever had. The location is great for exploring the west side of the island, e.g. Balos beach, Chania or even Elafonissi beach. The villa has a big and heated pool which our kids loved and is top. The villa itself is spacey, the bathrooms, however, are a bit aged and could use a bit of renovation here and there. But that did not affect our overall rating/impression. All in all, highly recommended.

Excellent Getaway
Beautiful location in the village of Spilia about a 40 minute drive from the airport of Chania In Western Crete. The owner is very friendly and you do get a free supply of local cheese, wine, bread and other assorted goodies on your arrival. The pool is great and a good size for swimming in. The air conditioned rooms are well proportioned and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need. We ate out in the evenings at the two local restaurants,the furthest being a 5 minute walk from the villa. Very good local meals and we never paid more than 25 euros for dinner with wine. That is for the two of us and not each! You often get a free dessert to share between you and some raki - nice but could easily blow your head off with too much!!

Just lovely
A lovely holiday at Villa Katerina. Everything and more of what we wanted. Manolis, the property owner was so nice, friendly, kind and went out of his way to ensure that we had a lovely time. From the welcome pack with fruit, veggies and other delicious food and drinks to popping round through the week with delicious Greek pastries it was so so nice. Not forgetting the absolute best fresh tomatoes picked from the garden next door! The villa, with it's stunning views and beautiful eco pool we had fun with our teenage boys but felt calm and relaxed. Thank you... it was everything we thought it would be and more. I just wish we could have stayed longer :)

Lovely relaxing stay
Great hospitality from the villa host, with a beautiful selection of local food and drinks available for us on arrival (very welcome at 10.30pm!), and these kept coming all week, with Manolis dropping off cake and pies for us. He organised our taxi transfer, car hire and gave us so many recommendations for restaurants and local places to visit. The villa is well equipped and in a lovely, quiet location with beautiful views. Ideal spot for anyone wanting to explore the west side of the island. We spent afternoons in the hills, at a winery, at the beach and in Chania, or simply relaxing by the lovely heated pool. All in all, it was ideal and we would definitely recommend it to others.

Wonderful stay
We have just returned from what was an amazing week. Really cannot fault the experience. The villa was spotless, had all the amenities you could ever need. Manolis is the perfect host, a genuinely nice guy who really cares that you are having a great experience. He left us some lovely treats in the fridge. We travelled with a baby and Manolis provided a lovely cot that was perfect, it looked brand new. There was also a high chair at the property so we had everything we needed. The villa has great views and is located in a lovely village with a fabulous Taverna a 2minute walk away. They even do Take-away should you want to eat in the villa but not want to cook, ideal if you have a tired baby like we did. You do need a car as the village is 5-10mins drive from the nearest good size supermarket and of course you should get out and explore all the wonderful beaches this area has to offer. We would definitely consider staying here again, a truly great villa rental experience.

Beautiful, relaxing villa in the hills of Spilia
Had a week here with my wife and two boys (age 8 and 2). Really great property with decent sized pool, outdoor seating and a lovely terrace with views of the hills and the ocean. Manolis the owner is a lovely guy and really helpful, his recommendations on where to visit, where to eat etc were extremely useful. The town of Spilia is small with only a couple of tavernas and a small shop but Kolymbari is close by (5mins by car) with supermarkets, places to eat, hire bikes etc. We really enjoyed our stay. If there was one downside it was the nicest sandy beaches (Falassarna, Elafounisi) are at least 30mins drive so you definitely need a car.

Wonderful family vacation
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Katerina. Location was perfect between Chania and the nice beaches of the West. Manolis was also very helpful with recommendations and was responsive to our needs. I wanted to highlight two aspects that were particularly outstanding for us: 1. Baby cot: we were travelling with a 4 month old and the cot was perfect for her. It had a proper fitted sheet over a decent mattress. It sounds like a simple thing, but we had stayed at two other places (one being a luxury hotel) prior to arriving at the villa and the baby cots were not up to standards which was a but stressful. The peace of mind of having a proper cot was appreciated. 2. He were travelling with my father in law who has mobility issues. He loves swimming and was able to get into the pool safely because there are large gradual steps leading into the pool. This was also convenient for our 3 year old son. Not something we had been looking for in a rental, but it was a delightful surprise when we arrived.

Our holiday in Spilia in Villa Katerina
We had a brilliant stay in Manos’ villa - it was a fantastic villa, pool was great, beautiful views and very comfortable - Manos was a very helpful host giving us ideas on where to go to eat and best places to visit and bringing us such lovely food and such a generous welcome pack when we arrived ! So generous ! The villa is in a beautiful setting with gorgeous views we were sad to leave - the local restaurants were lovely and the nearby town is full of great places to eat too - again Manos gave us good recommendations on where to eat - we loved Dictina - we went on a brilliant snorkelling trip with the local dive centre - we are a family of two adults and four teenagers and we all absolutely loved it ! Thank you Manos !

Where do we start.... Manolis, is the most amazing, helpful, organised host ever. We had an amazing time in his lovely house. Cleaner attended twice a week, changed beds and provided clean towels. Pool was beautifully clean and very welcoming!!! Manolis recommended some fabulous places for us to attend, he was always in touch, even texting on results day to see how our son did with his degree! Totally recommend anyone staying at Villa Katerina, the location is perfect. Not ruined by tourists, still traditional with perfect tavernas in walking distance. Our stay here was amazing! We stayed for 7 nights and did not want to leave. Großartige Gastfreundschaft!!!
Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von fünf Personen vom 14.04.2019 - 24.04.2019 in Spilia und haben den Aufenthalt absolut genossen. Das Haus liegt fantastisch, sowohl mit einem wundervollen Ausblick auf die weißen Berge Kretas als auch auf das Meer. Ganz besonders hervorzuheben ist aber das Engagement von Manolis, unserem Gastgeber. Er hat alles dafür getan, unseren Aufenthalt mit Tipps, griechischen Köstlichkeiten und seiner Hilfsbereitschaft zu verschönern. Wir würden dieses Haus jederzeit wieder buchen! Efharistò, Manolis!

Wundervolle Zeit / wonderful time
Thanks to our host Manolis we spent a wonderful week in Greece. The picturesque house was spacious, pleasant, tasteful, well-appointed and ideally located amid olive trees on a promontory overlooking the village church. Our host's welcome exceeded all our expectations. When we arrived, Manolis was waiting for us with a fridge full of Cretan delicacies he had purchased and prepared for us. Throughout our stay, he regularly lavished similar attentions on our family and was repeatedly on hand to answer our questions and offer advice about making the most of our time in his gorgeous homeland--from which secret restaurant to visit to the best beaches to drive to. I would not hesitate to recommend the house to anyone thinking of visiting Crete. You can't go wrong!

Das perfekte Quartier - und der perfekte Gastgeber
Auf einem Hügel, das Meer in Sichtweite, der Pool (großer und kleiner) auf der Terrasse, große geräumige Zimmer, die Highlights des Westens von Kreta super mit dem Auto erreichbar. Und zu alledem ein Gastgeber, Manolis, der einem den Kühlschrank immer wieder mit Eiern, eigenem Wein und eigenem Raki füllt. Kurz: Jeder, der einen Traumurlaub im schönen Westen Kretas in einem Ferienhaus für 3-7 Personen verbringen will, ist hier perfekt aufgehoben. Ganz große Empfehlung!!!

Very comfortable clean and convenient villa, and we could not have asked for a better host.
Manolis ensured that there were plenty of local hints and tips which really helped us make the most of our weeks stay. He also provided the best welcome pack that we've ever had. We really enjoyed tasting the local produce and that included sampling his grandmother's cooking. The villa was ideally situated within easy walking distance of two local taverns and easy access to the main road to get to both Chania and the beaches of Western Crete. It was in a peaceful location with good views of both the mountains and the coast.

Great Villa with big heated pool!!Really helpful hosts!
Beautiful ,comfortable and tranquil Villa with a nice garden and views.The Villa looks even better than in the photos...There are everything you may need during your staying. And if you need anything extra, Manolis is always there to help you. It was amazing that when we wεre there, many swallows made their nests on the front door of the Villa and in the veranda!! At the same time in less than 100m away there is a very nice tavern, Kolimbari is very close also and by using the motorway you can also go to Chania , Falassarna Elafonissi, etc easily.I cannot forget to mention that a very extended welcome pack was provided at arrival followed later in the week by several sweets and fruits. Moreover, Manolis the owner, gave us many useful tips, which we couldn't find in any of the guides we had. West Crete is really beautiful, and this Villa is in a very good location to explore this region. So i definitely recommend this Villa for staying. The only problem you may have is that there aren't so many available dates. We will come back very soon!!

We spent really nice holidays. The villa is very nice and has many good points: well located + beautiful view + quiet + big + heated pool and great owner! You can also enjoy a nice aera (close to countryside, beaches and cities). An advice : just go!

Villa in schöner Lage und sehr gepflegt mit Wien sehr schönen Pool mit kleinen blauen Mosaiksteinen.
Schöner Pool mit blauen Mosaikkacheln; Manolis der Eigentümer war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit für alle möglichen Tagesplanungen und Tipps. Als Begrüßung gab es ein Willkommenspaket mit Wein, Raki, Eiern vom Hof, Wasser, Obst und speziellen Käse aus Kreta etc., was wir als spät in der Nacht Ankommende sehr zu schätzen wussten. Amazing Villa with breathtaking views
We had a wonderful two weeks in gorgeous Villa Katerina. Peacefully located in the sleepy little village of Spilia with stunning countryside views, the villa is ideally situated to visit the gorgeous beaches and towns of Crete's west coast. The villa's owner Manolis was a lovely kind host, providing a welcome pack including honey, yoghurt, olive oil, home grown fruit and vegetables, butter and eggs and even a bottle of wine and Ouzo which was all unexpected and gratefully received! The villa was very well equipped, spotlessly clean, and more than big enough for our family comprising 2 adults, 3 big kids and a toddler. Manolis has really thought of everything, even providing a couple of inflatables for the pool which the kids loved! The nearby seaside town of Kolymbari with its many Tavernas and shops is a 5 minute drive and has a couple of decent sized supermarkets which was really handy. Trip wise, we would definitely recommend a visit to Chania and especially the Venetian Port area which is lovely for an evening meal. Further afield, we had a great day on the beach at Paleochora. We would wholeheartedly recommend this gorgoeus villa and its generous and kindhearted owner. We'd love to return, thank you Manolis!

Great villa and great host!
The villa is absolutely lovely - very comfortable and relaxing to stay in. The pool is beautiful and great to cool off in in the July heat! The villa is also really well located for exploring the western part of Crete and you will certainly not run out of things to do (including visiting the various stunning beaches). Manolis is a brilliant host. He made sure we had everything we needed including helping with arrangements such as a trip to the Samaria gorge and restaurant suggestions etc. Overall we had a fantastic stay and thank you very much to Manolis. Very Good Villa
We had a great stay in Villa Katerina. The owner, Manolis, was like a hotel concierge. From sending us directions from the airport to the villa, supplying fresh eggs, and being a source of useful local information. The villa is spacious, modern, and has everything one needs. With views over the village one way, and across countryside to the sea another way, the villa is in the perfect peaceful location. I highly recommend it. Andy Hennigan - May 2017

Good equipped villa with an amazing view!
The villa is in a small village in between olive trees and as we went end of April we could also smell the nice sent of orange trees. It is situated high and has a nice view on the see, olive trees, the snowy mountains and a village church. The house is very well equipped, and you have everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. We received a nice welcome from the property manager Manolis, and there were among others fresh fruit, eggs, honey, bread, raki, olive oil and wine ready when we arrived. Manolis came regularly to check if we were fine or needed anything and was very kind and friendly. We were even served with a nice Greek dinner organized by Manolis on one of the days. Furthermore, the house is clean, and got cleaned once in the week that we were there including a change of towels and linens. In short, we had a great vacation and would highly recommend villa Katerina for a good vacation in Crete.

attractive property in convenient village
The house is of very good quality well maintained with good ground floor space and an enticing pool. The use of wood and tiles gives a luxurious impression. The owner is most welcoming with useful advice and offerings of local produce. We felt guests in a friends home rather than customers. The village is pleasant to walk round. Only a few minutes from the local beach town of Kolumbari and the national road with easy access to Western Crete's many delightful excursions. The house is surrounded by olive groves though the plot itself is small- the pool and half a dozen olive trees on one side and adequate parking space on the other. Bedrooms not as spacious as living space but adequate. the nearest I can get to a negative comment is that the bathroom of the third bedroom is small with an ineffective multi spray shower fitting taking up limited space in the shower.
