I was delighted to find a large room waiting for us with central partition; all the children's beds (one double one sofabed) all made up. There was plenty of room to fit us all. “Just a place to take a good weekend break from everything. It was our 2nd time. Only complaint was that it was too warm to sleep at night. They didn't have any electric fans for us. We will be back in winter next time.”

I walked from the ferry terminal which was only 15 minutes away. There is sufficient car parking at the hotel. Very quiet and pleasant room. Very comfy bed and everything very clean. Local pub good for food in evening. Interesting watching many massive lorries sounding their horns when going past the outside diners! ”

“The Royal is a great hotel situated in the quaint village of Heysham.
We loved our stay. Lots of nice walks and history. The hotel has a very relaxed and chilled atmosphere.
The food is excellent and all staff are friendly and display excellent communication and customer service skills.
Everwhere is spotlessly clean. Free parking is an added bonus.
We will be returning soon and I will recommend the Royal to my friends and family.”

“The hotel is recovering post-Covid and in the face of a shortage of key staff, but is managing to workaround. Food and beers excellent, and it is clearly the social centre of the village with the same people dropping in, out and socialising day after day. Bedrooms good, comfortable and well-serviced.”

Sadly there was no air conditioning and it was very hot. A fan would have been good.

Lovely room 1 Pen-y-gent the walk in shower i wish i could take home. Plenty of tea coffee in room and toiletries.
Had steak and ale pie with veg and chips. Big chunks of tender meat in luscious gravy, chips were home made and not the usual frozen ones! Meal was excellent.
Lovely fire in bar which was really welcoming on such a bad day
