The pictures online for Arlo NoMad is so deceiving. They show that 1 particular room with the nice view.
I am a female staying alone in NYC. The room that I was given was on the 11th floor and it was facing the building across and was extremely close to the fire escape. It was dull, dark and just plain depressing. I felt that it was unsafe as someone could come into my room through the fire escape. I went down to the receptionist to share my concerns and requested to change rooms. The receptionist said "sure we have rooms that have a better view available but you'll have to pay additional for that". I reiterated that it was unsafe for me and they finally changed rooms for me to the 9th floor that was not next to a fire escape landing.
Overall, there was practically no service. Exiting and entering the hotel there was no greeting welcome. It didn't have that extra touch to make you feel warmth and welcome as other nicer hotels would do.
Mediocre at best. The bedsheets were so thin it didn't feel comfortable or clean at all. The pillows were also too soft.
Note that there is additional USD25 tax per day even though you have purchased online on expedia. Hidden cost that's not stated upon booking.
Probably the only good thing about this hotel. It's convenient and close by to subway, K-town, good food around the area, wholefoods.
Overall, would not recommend. Probably can find better deals elsewhere.
