I recently stayed at the Marriott Marquis and unfortunately had a very frustrating experience during the check-in process, primarily due to the parking situation and traffic.
First and foremost, the traffic in the area was terrible, which made arriving at the hotel quite stressful. However, I believe the hotel could significantly improve the check-in experience by providing clearer and more specific instructions regarding parking and the check-in process on their website and at the entrance.
Upon arrival, I struggled for 1.5 hours trying to figure out where to leave my car and how to proceed to check-in. The signage was inadequate, and there was no clear guidance on where to park or how to access the lobby. I had pre-selected parking as an additional service on the website, but upon arrival, I found that there was no parking available. I also opted against valet parking after waiting in line for over 30 minutes without any movement.
In the end, I had no choice but to drive to a public parking lot just three minutes away from the hotel. This added unnecessary stress to my arrival and took away from the overall experience.
I understand that traffic conditions are beyond the hotel's control, but providing clear instructions and better signage for parking would go a long way in alleviating stress for guests.
