Step back in time

Charming, converted 18th century carriage house attached to a main Chateau where the owners live. Marie-Hélène and her husband Claude could not have been nicer. Situated about a 10 minutes drive west of Bayeux.

Family holiday

Loved the property and its location, Marie-Helene and Claude very welcoming. Kids loved the pool and the grounds, was a great base for us to explore Normandy, would definitely recommend to others, was also lovely to be shown round their own chateau and hear the history behind it.

A historical stay

We loved the location and the fact we were staying in a building built in early 18th century, the host and her husband were welcoming and shared interesting and incredible history of the buildings and their family! The location was so close to DDay sites, grocery stores and museums. We had very peaceful nights in the library with the large French windows open to the breeze and late setting sun each night. The place is large, we had 4 in our family and loved everything about our stay. We would definitely come back!

Excellent séjour

Ce fut un séjour magnifique dans un endroit exceptionnel, la demeure est confortable et bien équipée. L’endroit est idéalement situé au milieu de nombreuses visites. Les propriétaires sont d'une extrême gentillesse et prêts à nous faire découvrir leurs histoires. Nous espérons revenir prochainement.

Lovely stay in a historic building

Spacious rooms in a building with lots of character. Quiet location. Nearest grocery stores and restaurants are in Bayeux about 10 minutes away. Marie Helene was a generous host who was willing to share her love of the area.

Geweldige locatie, heel vriendelijke gastheer en dame

We zijn ruim 2 weken geweest. We hebben genoten van de rust en ruimte. Hele lieve en vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw. Alles wat je nodig hebt was er wel, de bedden waren heerlijk opgemaakt bij aankomst. we miste misschien alleen een droger maar gastvrouw bood aan dat we handdoeken aan haar konden geven dan deed zij ze in de droger bij haar thuis! We kregen een leuke rondleiding in het kasteel en er was een idyllische kapelletje naast het kasteel. De kinderen genoten van het grote zwembad. De plek vonden wij ook plezierig, dichtbij de invasiestranden en Bajeux is een hele gezellige stad.

Normandy Beaches Visit

We stayed here for three nights while we visited the Normandy WWII beaches and sites. It was perfectly located for this. The property was spacious and had plenty of room for a large family if needed. Close proximity to Port en Bassin which had lots of good restaurants and a supermarket nearby. Nice and quiet and peaceful at night. Helene was easy to communicate with and check in and check out were super easy. No problem finding the property with provided address. Fun to stay in a historic site as well.

Calme et tranquillité dans un environnement de rêve

Grand hébergement où nous avons séjourné avec nos trois petits-fils adolescents, avec une partie raffinée (magnifique salon-bibliothèque et deux grandes pièces accueillantes ainsi qu'une vaste salle à manger) et une partie plus simple mais confortable. Immense parc à disposition avec piscine appréciée par les ados. C'est un bel endroit, très tranquille. La propriétaire est disponible et partage sa passion pour les lieux, son château et sa région. Les quelques rénovations prévues ces prochains mois seront appréciées.

Historic carriage house

A much needed break after a hectic week in Paris. It was quiet, room to run for children, easy access to Bayeux and the Normandy beaches. The rental is in the converted carriage house of a 17th century chateau replete with history provided by Marie Helene. The premises are “faded” but beds were good, bathrooms updated sufficiently, kitchen a bit of a challenge, library a lovely evening setting. Kids loved the “garden »

Zwischenstopp

Altes Gemäuer, mit einladend großem Grundstück und Pool. Mit zwei Familien auf der Durchreise für vier Nächte genutzt und genossen. Château-Besichtigung, Grillen, Pool, W-Lan, Netflix und Katzenstreicheln bleiben in guter Erinnerung. Wir danken unseren (auch englischsprechenden) Gastgebern!🙌🏻👍🏻🤘

Two weeks of relaxation

We had a wonderful time in Normandy ! The house was perfect for us (family of 6 kids and 2 adults): nice and quiet, lots of space in and outside, kids enjoyed themselves perfectly, nice furniture and last but not least: very nice and helpful lady and her husband.

Unique Home in Countryside Near D-Day Sites

Our stay could not have been any nicer! We were met by our landlady and cordially shown the property. She was easy to communicate with from original booking all the way through checkout. The property itself is historical and charming. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked often using local foods from the Bayeux Market. We enjoyed the outside space and ate in the garden. The bedrooms were large and we thought it would be a perfect set up for a extended family or friends to share. Two bathrooms were a great feature. The location was outstanding for visiting all the sites we planned to see. You do need a car. The rural setting was peaceful and yet convenient. We woke to birds and other animals instead of traffic and city noises. A wonderful way to start our busy days. From this beautiful base we visited Bayeux, St Mere Eglise, Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Arromenches, and the American Cemetery. We planned to take the train from Bayeux to Caen but we spent more time at the beaches. We picked up our rental car in Caen and it was an easy drive. Thank you, Helene-Marie, for sharing your beautiful family home. We miss the cats greeting us in the driveway as we returned home each evening. The long, stately driveway was something out of Pride and Prejudice. Very grand and welcoming entrance.

vacances du 6 au 20 juillet 2019

Nous sommes revenus ravis avec nos quatre petits enfants de nos deux semaines de vacances . Location pleine de charme dans un environnement calme et verdoyant où nous avons été accueillis très agréablement. C'est le point de départ idéal pour visiter les plages du débarquement, sans oublier Bayeux, sa vieille ville et ses musées. Et pour les enfants il y a un parc avec accrobranche à proximité. Sans oublier la piscine et le trampoline, tout ce qu'il faut pour passer de bonnes vacances.

Super Umgebung, top für Familien mit Kinder

Uns wurde es nie langweilig. Die Gegend bietet sehr viele Sehenswürdigkeiten. Speziell für die historisch interessierten. Die Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich. Auf Anfrage kann auch das Schloss inkl. Geheimtür angeschaut werden (sehr zu empfehlen). Das Gebäude ist sehr alt. Die Sauberkeit OK. Die Waschmaschine sollte man zuerst auf Schimmel untersuchen und vorher 1x mit 90 Grad durchlaufen lassen. Je nach dem wie heikel man ist. Die Betten sind erstaunlich bequem. Die Küche ist mit dem nötigsten ausgestattet. Gasherd vorhanden. Es hat auch einen guten Elektrobackofen. Der Garten ist super und das Schwimmbad und Trampolin sind die perfekte Ablenkung für die Kinder. Wir würden es wieder mieten, wenn wir in diese Gegend gehen.
