House designed for family gatherings. Perfect set up!! Four bedrooms with large family room with Fireplace. Outdoor cooking area. Large boathouse with wet bar with tv/music. Several seating areas with great view of lake. Designed for a great time!!

  • Joseph Winthrop Holley, born in 1874 to former slaves in Winnsboro, South Carolina, founded the institution in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute. W. E. B. Du Bois inspired Holley to return to the South after he read Du Bois's writings on the plight of Albany's blacks in The Souls of Black Folk. Holley relocated to Albany to start a school. With the help of a $2,600 gift from the Hazard family, Holley organized a board of trustees and purchased 50 acres (200,000 m2) of land for the campus, all within a year. The aim of the institution at the time was to provide elementary education and teacher training for the local Black population. It was turned over to the state of Georgia in 1917 as Georgia Normal and Agricultural College, a two-year agricultural and teacher-training institution. In 1932, the school became part of the University System of Georgia and in 1943 it was granted four-year status and renamed Albany State College. The transition to four-year status heavily increased the school's enrollment. In 1981 the college offered its first graduate program, a prelude to the school being upgraded to university status in 1996.

Papa 80th Birthday

We celebrated my dad’s birthday on the lake. The house was a great size. The dock and back yard were ideal for entertaining. Plenty of parking. We really enjoyed our stay. Marty was a great host.

Livin' on dock time!

Our family had a fabulous time!!! Marty's home is spacious; comfortable and set up for entertaining your family both inside and out! Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and just "enjoy the Lake", together!! The spacious covered dock (with ceiling fans!) was a blessing as this was a surprise Birthday celebration for my Dad turning 80, and Marty's place was perfect for him to walk out on the dock safely and enjoy lots of fishing without being in direct sun the whole time!! 😁 most of our time was spent on the dock! We all hated to leave and we can't wait to go back! Thanks Marty!

Like home lake house

This place was a very cozy way to hang out with friends and family . We hope to return to this location a few more times this summer . The owner was wonderful and very attentive. Even let us check in early and leave late . The dock was so convenient too. Neighbors were great . Love this place !!

Much needed getaway

Perfect getaway location!!! This property is perfect for a getaway with your family or a group of friends. My experience was amazing with the kids. We fished from the dock and the television outside on the dock entertained the kids while I fished. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway. The neighbors were also very welcoming and friendly.

4th Friends Gathering

Fabulous weekend in a wonderful lake house! The house had everything we needed. The house was clean, spacious, and had a beautiful lake view. The outside living space was huge with lots of lounging options, music and a tv. Cannot wait to return! The hosts were great too!
