Nicht wie erwartet
Die Beschreibung der Wohnung versprach diverse Gegenstände und Annehmlichkeiten, die vor Ort nicht vorhanden waren. So haben wir uns bei einem fast vierwöchigen Urlaub auch wegen der Waschmaschine, die als vorhanden angegeben wurde, für das Cottage entschieden. Die war aber nicht vorhanden, so dass wir uns einen Waschsalon suchen mussten. Auch eine Klimaanlage, beim afrikanischen Sommer auch Grundlage, war nicht wie angegeben vorhanden. Andere Dinge wie Garage, Geschirrspüler usw. sind auch nicht da. Die derzeitige Beschreibung ist also mit Vorsicht zu genießen. Auch die 105 Quadratmeter sind lächerlich - wir gehen von allerhöchstens der Hälfte aus. Insgesamt war die Wohnung zwar bewohnbar, aber es zeigten sich doch in allen Ecken deutliche Abnutzungsspuren. An Fliesen, Badamaturen, Decken und Wänden zeigtesich deutlicher Renovierungsbedarf. Das Bad war bei unserer Ankunft offensichtlich nicht geputzt, Waschbecken und Badewanne waren schmutzig. Zwar gab es dreimal die Woche "Roomservice", dabei wurde das Bad aber nicht ein einzigstes Mal gereinigt. Der Wohnraum mit Kochnische war nicht sonderlich gemütlich. Das Sofa war alt und unbequem, es gab keinen richtigen Tisch, an dem man gemütlich sitzen oder essen konnte. Das Schlafzimmer war in Ordnung und bot ausreichend Stauraum und ein bequemes Bett. Lediglich die Sauberkeit ließ auch hier zu wünschen übrig. Insgesamt nicht schlimm, aber wir würden das Cottage auch kein zweites Mal mehr buchen. Die Vermieterin hatte unsere Restzahlung von Fewo-direkt noch nicht erhalten und beschäftigte uns mehrmals damit, obwohl wir die Bezahlung belegt hatten - aus unserer Sicht nicht gerade gastfreundlich.

My sincere apologies that our guests did not find the accommodation to their liking and were expecting more and something different. The items that they mention that should have been on site had not been written up on my listing of Taurus Cottage. It does not state that there is a washing machine, nor dishwasher nor a garage for the cottage, but I suggested that I could do their washing, dry it and iron it at a rate of R75.00 per load. I suggested this to them unless they would prefer to use a laundromat. they preferred to use the later. It also states on my listing that there is secure parking in our grounds not under cover, next to the cottage. It does not say anything about a garage. My listing does not state the cottage is air-conditioned but that it does have a fan for the summer months. On my listing I also indicate that guests would eat at the kitchen counter with two bar stools and table mats provided. I have never had a complaint about the couch being uncomfortable or old. It has deep cushions which are stuffed with feathers and uni-curl and beautifully covered with Corduroy fabric, covered not so long ago. It by no means is old. I too have never had a complaint about the cleanliness of the cottage or that it is looking shabby and needs renovation. I only questioned the last payment as the guest indicated that it had been paid but it had not reflected in my bank statement as received. It took a lot of correspondence to rectify this matter. which was then sorted out in which I wrote them a very polite email to thank them for their payment and apologized for any inconvenience caused. The cottage is by no means HALF of 105 sq meters. this is one of the many wonderful reviews I have received on my personal website "Caring Service What a wonderful place to stay. Beautifully appointed cottage which was welcoming from the moment the gates opened and Bridget greeted us with her warm openness. Taurus place is spacious and comfortable, with reliable Wi-Fi, a lovely garden and great hospitality. It was a calm peaceful haven. We would recommend it to anyone considering coming to Cape Town. Leisure or business. It's a win. 10/10." It is unfortunate that our guests did not find the cottage to their liking and I was not able to satisfy their needs. There was a little bit of a lack of understanding when communicating with them as they both didn't speak English very well. We do strive to give of our best service and hospitality in every aspect!

Hazardous parking situation
The parking situation at the property is hazardous. The parking area is awkward and tight, so much so that on November 1st 2016, our first evening at the property, while we were in the cottage, one of the property owners backed into our rental car damaging the front bumper. He provided us with his insurance information so we left the property with the understanding his insurance would cover our financial damages. When after repeated attempts to follow up with both the insurance company and the owner, without compensation, we initiated a complaint with HomeAway. For a few weeks they seemed to be actively perusing a resolution after making excuses that the holidays were hindering their efforts. We again requested information from them mid January and have not received a response. We understand accidents happen and with the expectation our losses would be reimbursed we didn’t mention the event in our first review of the property. However, it is unconscionable for an owner to carelessly and negligently damage a guest’s property and fail to make restitution. We feel an obligation to disclose this to potential guests.

I as the owner do sincerely apologize for the damage caused to the rental car to our guest by my husband. It was however one of those things that happened and has never happened to any of our guest before. the fact that it was over the Christmas was a genuine reason for our Insurance Borkers not to be in immediate contact with them as they were on skeleton staff, however it was very negligent on our Insurance Broker not to get someone else in the comany to deal with as he was away on holiday. I sincerely as the owner do apologies for this inconvenience. The guests were finally re-imbursed but not the full amount as they had expected and the balance should have been settled by my husband who was at fault. I am sorry because of this incident and only this incident they have given us a one star as they are clearly angry about the whole matter and understandable so. As for the actual accommodation and what we had to offer they had no complaints so I think a one star is a little unfair. Other than this unfortunate experience I thoroughly enjoyed having them to stay and they were a delight to accommodate. Thank you for your support. Kind regards, Bridget
