“Staff was friendly but hotel needs a refresh”

“I was in town for a concert that my daughter was in at Duke University. I booked through Expedia. Nowhere on the hotel's website or in additional details on Expedia is it said that there will be an additional $100 fee for incidentals. I was not prepared to need that and although it caused a bit of frustration, the front desk person was great and understood my frustration. “This place could be something amazing. Looks like a massive property that was put in the wrong place. It could use a bit of upkeep here and there but by far and away the best value I have paid for a hotel. This place is significantly underrated. There has to be a story here I have not found, something happened and they are now limping along. Overall great stay”
