“I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions.”

Just don’t forget your own spoons and forks. Beware of a ladder to the bedroom upstairs. If you are night traveler to a bathroom- it may become a hassle. “This was our 2nd stay at Calies Cabin. We love it there! So peaceful, quiet and comfortable. The hot tub overlooks a pond with a beautiful view of the tree line and the sunset. We used the fire pit and the grill. We enjoyed seeing the cows next door, some deer, a fox, ducks flying overhead and hearing the bullfrogs. “I was in the area for a seminar and to do some hiking. The location was perfect. The cabin could not have been better and was just right size for one person - not too big, not too small. Very clean, had everything you would need, and I really liked the kitchen area. I would absolutely stay here again if in the area and would strongly recommend it. ”
