We will post a sign on the thermostat so future guests don't have the same confusion. It's important to note that there are strategies to help keep the house cooler during such warm spells. If we had been made aware of your discomfort, we would have been more than happy to share these tips with you. We were surprised to find that we didn't receive any messages via the VRBO platform, phone calls, or texts from you during your stay. Please know that we are typically very attentive and responsive hosts, and had we been informed of your concerns, we would have promptly addressed them. Given the rural setting of our property, occasional cobwebs can indeed be a challenge. Especially during the transition to fall, these cobwebs tend to reappear shortly after being cleared by our diligent housekeeping team. We want to assure you that our team works tirelessly to keep the property in the best possible condition for our guests. We genuinely care about the comfort and satisfaction of our guests, and we deeply regret any disappointment you experienced during your stay. Hi Hilary We are happy you enjoyed the property and we exceeded your expectations as far as providing you with a clean home, working hot tub and other recreational equipment. The low river flow as you know is out of our control, if swimming was your main priority at this property we understand your disappointment. If kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, sightseeing, close proximity to ocean beaches, tide pooling, hiking the coast, shopping at the Duncan’s mills local retail shops, and wine tasting are priorities this property is still an excellent summer time getaway no matter what season. Earlier this season we sent photos of the blooms at RRYC’s beaches to an official at the CA North Coast Water Quality Control Board this official stated that it appears the bloom is mostly comprised of filamentous green algae. Although this green algae is unsightly and can be a nuisance, it is not the toxin-producing cyanobacteria that poses health risks to people and pets. That being said, it is always possible for harmful cyanobacteria to be present in other areas of the river or within the filamentous green algae. Which is why we have the advisory signs posted. And as a result, its Always encouraged for people to practice healthy water habits (https://mywaterquality.ca.gov/habs/do/ ) when recreating in the water no matter what beach your at. Testing has happened at popular beaches all along the lower Russian river and toxic algae blooms have been found even at the popular beaches such as Johnsons Beach. Distinguishing between harmless algae and harmful cyanobacteria can be difficult to the untrained eye. So it’s best to get educated and also be safe. We hope the advisory signs didn’t cause anxiousness but only want to help educate.
