  • Welcome to the Jellybean Manor Apartment — a bright, self-contained basement suite at 4 Park Place, a beautifully restored heritage property in the heart of downtown St. John's.

    The apartment has its own private entrance and is completely independent from the upper floors of the house. Inside you'll find a queen-size bed, a comfortable pull-out sofa, a full kitchen, and all the essentials for a great stay. Cable and internet included.

    The location is exceptional — steps from Bannerman Park, a short walk to the waterfront and harbour, and minutes from George Street, Duckworth Street, and the city's best restaurants and shops.

    Free on-street parking right out front.

    Note: the upper floors of this same heritage home are separately listed as a 5-bedroom rental sleeping up to 8 guests — perfect if you're travelling with a larger group. Search "Jellybean Rentals" on Vrbo to find it.

Superb location and amenities

I chose the Jelly Bean Manor Apartment primarily for its location. It did not disappoint. The property is close to small shops, pubs and eating establishments; and within walking distance to many historic, architecturally interesting buildings, churches, and cathedrals. Directly across from the property, the beautifully restored Bannerman Park is located with facilities for young and old. A short walk will lead to the harbour front, with stunning views of the War Memorial and the historic Cabot Tower on Signal Hill. The amenities found in the apartment are exactly as listed on the booking site, and then some…. everything from kitchen tools, books, puzzles, games, coloured pencils.. to soaps, a small flat iron, towels and linens….even coffee pods, tea bags and packaged oatmeal to get your first morning started with a smile. I felt safe and secure in this beautiful Victorian style property and neighbourhood.

Enjoyed the stay - with some concerns

Can't review the apartment in photo because 3 days before we were changed to another apartment. Notice was given and the reason was good. We were told we were being upgraded to a very close by apartment. Looking at the photos didn't really look like an upgrade. The new apartment was fine. Unfortunately Noah, the property manager didn't tell us the new address so we showed up to where we had booked. Couple calls later we got directions and access code to our new place. Noah really didn't provide us with any info - got a parking ticket because no one told us we need a pass to display in our. car. No info re: garbage disposal and the TV didn't work. Wasn't any immediate replies to questions I asked. Eventually about 4 days in the cleaning lady was next door and answered all our concerns, Though the TV never worked, even though Noah came and took a look at it. But he didn't get anyone to fix it. So our stay in St. Johns was good : the communication with the property manager was atrocious.

The location was very good. A 10 minute walk to Water St. and Sobeys for groceries. The kitchen was well equipped. A few incidentals like pot holders, salt & pepper and paper towels would have been good. Bed was very comfortable. There was a Safa bed in living area but definitely needed a better mattress. We didn’t need it so wasn’t a problem for us. Light fixtures in kitchen and bathroom need to be fixed or replaced. Internet was not always available - connection would drop. Security became an issue when a renter from the suite above entered our suite. The fellow apologized but we were concerned that it was possible. We messaged the owner who contacted the other renter to ensure it didn’t happen again. One other note, the location was good for us but the area is quite hilly so can be a challenge to walk.

The apartment was great! Walking distance to downtown and to signal hill. Lots of hills. Beautiful park across the street to take an evening stroll. A corner store call NEEDS around the corner.

Most of the furniture and finishings in the listing photos were not there. This is a basement apartment, and not only was there not a single reading lamp anywhere, but half of the ceiling light bulbs were burnt out. There was no coffee maker, kettle, or even a small saucepan to boil water. This was nothing at all like what was advertised.
