“We checked into the Grand Royal in York after a dismal experience at another hotel in York. The room, air conditioning, and staff were fabulous. The room was gorgeous, the staff could not have been more helpful, and we looked a mess after a bad experience at another hotel in York, but they treated us with respect and helped us to our room. The breakfast was fantastic, bar and restaurant and spa as well. This is the BEST hotel in York!”

L'hotel ricavato presumo da una farm house di qualche secolo fa è accogliente e in ottime condizioni di conservazione, ben manutentato e efficiente. Il personale è estremamente cortese e disponibile. “We stayed at this property in May 2026. While the staff were extremely kind and helpful, the air conditioner in our room was not working and they refused to change our room since they were all booked and declined a refund/compensation too. When you pay £137 a night the least you expect is for the air conditioner to work especially when it’s been a hot day and you’re on the top floor of the hotel. Pretty poor for a ‘Marriott’ hotel. Avoid at all costs.”

“What a great place to stay. We highly recommend it! Breakfast was excellent. Christina, our breakfast waitress was outstanding. Lots of breakfast choices. The breakfast room was very nice and the table in the window bay was special. Our room was spacious, and the kitchen amenities were complete. There was a small table where we could sit looking on the back garden. The bathroom was also spacious and well done. The decor in the condition of everything was amazing given the age of the building....
