“We booked a room last minute as we had a flight cancellation and got into Newfoundland late. The shuttle was very quick to pick us up at midnight and get us to our room. When we checked in we were greeted by a very nice front desk agent. Our room was good, we did find someone else’s hair accessories, but other than that it was clean and comfortable. The provided shampoo is a good quality, so that was a nice surprise. Breakfast was good, they had a nice selection and a good amount of seating....

“The TV did not work, the phone did not work, electronic foor lock did not work, the property was run down and unkept, the room was dated with damaged furniture and equipment, no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The room was very expensive and they charged $25.00 per day for parking. Over rated and over priced. There are far better hotels in St John’s for less money. Don’t stay here!”

“Ryan Mansion is a beautiful building in a good location. The house manager is friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was delicious. Our room on the third floor was spacious, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. We got a good workout going up and down the stairs. The room tended to get hot but was equipped with a portable air conditioner that we ran constantly. We appreciated having it but some might find the fan loud. Overall, a nice stay.”

“This is a cute and charming place if you like that old fashioned vibe. It had too many decorations for my taste though. The kitchen is very dated and the breakfast was self serve and very basic. Our room was very dusty, but it must be difficult to dust around the many items on display. There are a lot of labels and signs for the rules and regulations which took away from some of the charm.”

“Excellent location and perfect space for our needs. Fully equipped kitchen was great for making meals. Bed was comfy and the location was perfect. Very close to shops and some really wonderful restaurants. It is up some stairs and there is no elevator but that wasn’t a big deal. Also, Water street is closed to traffic during specific times in the summer so we parked a block away. There is a staircase that pretty much gets you to the nearest parking lot so pretty convenient.
