“Breakfast ran out of almost everything by 9 am we left at 932 nothing replenished except for turkey sausage which had plenty and cheese omelet”

“The elevator had broken down, but these things happen. The ice machine on the third floor did not work. The door trim to the bathroom was coming loose from the wall. The paint on the ceiling of the shower was falling down. The hotel felt dated, but the room was clean and comfortable. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived to check in. We called back to some offices, but no answer. After 10-15 minutes, we called the hotel and someone answered. He said he would be right there....

“It’s a solid budget hotel. It’s not run down but it’s also not a resort either. Everything in the room worked as expected and the staff was quick to address the tv remote issue. A good solid place to sleep. Didn’t check out the breakfast, not a breakfast person.”

“Close to the fairgrounds is the only thing it had going for it. Room was dank/musty smelling with holes punched in the wall. This is a $60 dollar a night hotel at best, not $190. Breakfast was a waffle, glazed donut, some bread or an apple. I would not stay here again. Really felt ripped off.”

“I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions.”

“High quality room, with farm privacy and atmosphere. We would recommend it and stay there again. Only one thing: The ladder to the loft bedroom is quite steep. My wife struggled a bit with it. But then, she is in her late 60's. Nevertheless, a good place that we will recommend. A/C worked well, and was needed. Room very clean. We hardly saw staff, which was fine, as we enjoyed our privacy.”

“The pond did not look like it did in the picture and it was a disgusting color and did not have a beach walk in area. There was also a bug in the refrigerator and on the floor by the refrigerator and then another bug by the garbage can and there was dog food from previous people that wasn’t picked up also thought it was ridiculous at 830 in the morning there was a mowing crew outside that was woken up to on my vacation and I took pictures of it ”

“We enjoyed our stay at the well outfitted cabin near the Shawnee Wine Trail. Cabin is conveniently located near Giant City State Park and the lodge restaurant. ”

“Four grown men on a weekend fishing trip. Cabin was perfect. Great grill on the back porch…we cooked every single meal out there. Very peaceful. Host was very accommodating and the cabin had every thing we needed.”

“Pretty nice stay overall. Location's clean and quiet. Deer and peacocks around if you like those. Hard to get lost. Only 5 miles off from stores if you need to pick something up. Negatives: I'm short and had a hard time reaching things, so I had to buy a stool (that's a me problem, I realize). The wi-fi never worked so I had to rely on mobile data (TV streamed through satellite so that was fine). Dealt with a lot of spiders and flies. Didn't try the hot tub because two wasps were hanging around...
