The breakfast was fantastic compared to other 2.5-star hotels; there was plenty of food available. The size of the room was perfect for two adults; it was very comfortable. The staff were available and helpful 24/7. For instance, when we needed to change our bedsheets at around 11 PM, they provided us with a complete set. “The breakfast buffet was very good with great variety. I also liked pots of hot coffee in the lobby available all day. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of soundproofing between rooms. Perhaps it was because my room could be an adjoining room, but we could hear everything next door. Our neighbor called to complain about our tv volume, so I guess they could hear everything also.”

“My husband and I were very disappointed. We decided to stay here for nostalgia's sake because it was the first place we had stayed together 14 years ago. We were saddeProperty is run down. Cobwebs in our room. Highway noise was unbearable. Game room has more machines closed than open. No continental breakfast made it very inconvenient and expensive and wasted so much time. We regret that we booked 2 nights.”

“Christmas lights on the balcony flooded the first floor room with light all night long. No blackout curtains. Rooms on first floor near front desk were noisy. ”

“Aside from the keys, not working in the desk person making me wait 15 minutes before they would come create me another key and the homeless people in the hallway. The mattress was the absolute worst I’ve ever slept in in my life basically a cement board. Other than that, it is first choice for the homeless in the hallway”

“Loved the Black Walnut Inn. I would love to go back. The rooms are lovely. Breakfast is delicious. A very generous spread. Self-serve tea and coffee is available at all times in the dining room area. There are also treats one can help oneself too. Chocolate chip cookies our first day and molasses cookies the second. Meghan bakes the best cookies. Seriously, the best. The owners are very warm. If we visit Amherst again, staying here would be our first choice. Thank you.”
