Hotel a Monk Sherborne

“4 star Hotel close to the Hospital in Basingstoke. Pool and Gym Service (if u pick up wrong time pool is full of old English ladies). Rooms are ok, nothing special, needs to be renovated. Bar is pricey for the location and hotel general condition. Recommend for quick customer visit at the hospital.”

“The room was spacious with a big bathroom, and access to a shared living room was an extra bonus. All of the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great.”

“This is a very old Inn with oak beams and uneven floors. The facilities were good however the room was unbearably hot. Even though we had 2 fans on we were just covered in sweat as soon as we came out of the shower. It was impossible to sleep.”

“An awful hotel, that in my opinion was hazourdous to health. Room smelt of damp, tiles falling off bathroom wall, mould on window cills, dirt on skirting board, bathroom light, tv both not working, veneer peeling off furniture. ”

“Whilst the staff and facilities were good, I was disappointed with the food. I had the coronation chicken terrine starter.which had a large piece of chicken skin in it. The staff offered me a replacement which I declined and they did not charmed for it. I later asked if I could have fresh fruit for dessert which the said would be available for breakfast. At breakfast the only fresh fruit available was watermelon. I may be picky but I feel that these minor items should be catered for.”

“Good bits: Free parking, spacious room (upgrade), nice grounds. Spa looked nice - but didn’t use due to jacuzzi out of order and a load of screaming kids running round. Not ideal during a relaxing swim or massage. Not so good bits: No air-con in standard rooms so had to upgrade at a fee. Hotel is particularly hot and 1st room was unbearable so had no choice other than to pay extra. There weren’t many rooms available with air-con. Feel it would be a great investment for the hotel. “Just an overnight stay when travelling. Everything was very good including the evening meal. Would stay there again”

“Tidy n clean rooms, but tired looking building and corridors. Free Parking, excellent location next to train station, Tescos, local takeaways, would stay again if travelling that way.”

“Only thing I would suggest is that the rooms have a mini fridge”
