“The room is in a secure building next to the bar. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The property is conveniently located in a shopping center next to a New World supermarket. It is only about 20 minutes away from the airport.”

“The shower had no water pressure at all, barely more than a trickle and the water was far from hot. The bed was hard and showing its age. Being on the corner of Riccarton Road and Hagley Park the traffic noise from boy racers was annoying throughout the night. The room was adequate for our needs but some maintenance could improve things immensely.”

“The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Couple of of items that need attention. The curtains at the ranch slider had mould patches. There was some slight damage to the bathtub surround. Staff were great and eager to assist. Recommend the local Cranford Alehouse for meals. Parking was good however the last night had to park on the road as all parks were full. Kitchen was compact and had only 2 of everything e.g. utensils, glasses and cups so had to wash dishes often when preparing meals.”

“Golden hotel is the perfect stay once landing in Christchurch and before leaving again. Very clean and nice space. Staff is also responsive and kind with inquiries. There is a Vietnamese cafe right on the main lobby so very convenient for a quick pick me up. Overall, would stay here again so definitely recommend!”

“Don’t stay here. It’s freezing cold in the room. Heater doesn’t work. It’s directly above a tattoo parlour that plays douf douf music until 3am. That’s in addition to the pub across the road that is loud until 1am. Hotel is too tight to pay for Netflix or any streaming. They assume you are from NZ and can log in using a NZ account. Oh and you can barely open the shower door due to toilet placement. Incredible badly designed bathroom. Go stay at the Novatel. I wish I had.”
