“Very friendly staff. The surrounding is very quiet and beautiful. Just 8-10 minutes from the Durham town centtre by a cab. Breakfast is good! it’s an old property, but very well maintained. What stands out is the service. Every staff you meet are friendly. The hotel really seem to love their guests. ”

“What a lovely place to stay. A convenient location on the A66 (near to Scotch Corner). Beatiful views from the back of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the bar area. Rooms were nice and comfortable with a very spacious bathroom and great shower. The only downside was that we were in Room 8 which was above the kitchen which was a bit on the noisey side. Will definitely use again but would bring ear plugs next time.”

“A great atmosphere at the Tan Hill, a good crowd was in on the night that we visited. The dinner was very good and the breakfast excellent. Our room was great with a good view out over the moors. If we're ever up that way we'll definitely stay again.”

“The staff were very friendly and the hotel is nice and central. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The only slight criticism was that there must have been a slight gap in the window as there was a slight whistling noise from the window.”
