“A lovely stay!We have just returned from a few nights visiting family and friends in and around Newcastle and Sunderland. Saddler's Cottage was a perfect base for our trip. Across the road you have a really good traditional butchers who also sells hot meat sandwiches, you have convenience store for all the little bits. “Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach.
