“When I arrived the property was closed and had been for over a year despite my money being taken and messages being sent to me about my stay up to the day before. I had to find alternative accommodation at the last minute. The property should be removed from the Expedia site. Poor management and very inconvenient.”

“Friendly welcome. Efficient check-in at the bar. Spotlessly clean bedding and towels. Comfy bed. Bathroom clean but in need of refurb (eg tile grout/ sealant).”

“Room was clean but very cold couldn’t get the underfloor heating to work Breakfast was disappointing plate was oily eggs were overcooked beans were cold as if the were straight out of the tin as was the mushroom and tomato sausages ,bacon ,black pudding and hash brown were lukewarm and didn’t come with toast or fried bread”

“The lady who checked in was so lovely, even took us to our room. Every member of staff asks if you need help finding anything and direct you to were you need to be. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast included in the room stay was 10/10.”

“This was a very old historical building in as good of a shape as it could be. Some uneven floors and a lot of steps to get to your room. It was small and quiet charming. The staff was pleasant and helpful. A bus stop was right out the side. Very pleasant. The bed was nice, no air conditioning, but it was fairly cool when we went in August, 2026. They had a fan. We are from Florida so the low 70's was a joy for us for August.”

“Lovely stay - fast check in, great lunch in the restaurant and an even better breakfast was had. We got a b&b deal through Expedia which included a full continental breakfast for starters and then a hot meal. I had eggs Benedict and my husband had the full English. Very nice setting and outlook. Only downside is that the room gets very hot - had to use the fan all night. And then there were some noisy occupants above us who decided to put tv on around 2am!!”

“I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality and spaciousness of my room (10). Staff were friendly and professional; the assistant at breakfast was first rate in supporting a substantial number of guests. And the Craster kippers were excellent. The one thing missing at breakfast was a bowl of fresh fruit. Dinner was well prepared and presented. All in all a very good experience at the Duke of W.”
