The Grand Bear lodge has a great bar as well. Great restaurant options between Utica, Peru and Ottawa, or venture over to the Starved Rock state park lodge restaurant.”

“Good location, short drive to the state parks and restaurants. The kitchen has everything including new coffee makers. The neighborhood seemed sketchy at first, but we had a quiet stay.”

“Property states that it sleeps 4, but really only 1 king and smaller Murphy bed accommodate 3 comfortably. A sleeper sofa would make it more amenable to 4 guests, also, shower drain was slow and water built up during the shower. Management/cleaning company should be checking these things, otherwise really nice.”

“This is our second time staying at your resort. We plan on making it a yearly family trip. We love the resort, shopping and dining in Otrawa and hiking in the state parks. Your team is friendly and efficient.”

“We enjoyed the peacefulness and seclusion of the house out in the country. It was a short drive over to Starved Rock and we even made a drive into a grocery store in LaSalle which was about 20 min away. We had a hard time getting the lock to open when getting in and with the heat but the owner was very quick to respond and resolve issues. He was kind and was understanding to our needs. Know that if you’re bringing children there’s only one bedroom with a door; the other is just partitioned off...

“Based on the pictures you would think this was a simple but very nice home. However, once we checked in, just from the outside you could tell it has not been kept up. The deck is worn and weeds and trees are growing along side it. Inside, there were numerous things wrong, including a strong smell of cat pee that was in the hallway and got stronger in the bedroom. I let the owner know and she said she would have the cleaning crew check it out. However, it was clear that the countertops had not...

“Enjoyed our mini vacay”

“We really enjoyed staying here. The owner was very nice and answered all our questions. We loved being right on the river and we caught a lot of fish (bass and big catfish). We drove to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park and went hiking there. We couldn't wait to get back to the cabin after hiking to relax. All the furniture, beds and bedding were very comfortable. The cabin is nicely decorated, beautiful wood furnishings and taxidermy. We would definitely stay here again!”

“Enjoyed family time with our adult kids, hiking into starved rock, access just across the highway!!! Lots of eating out and fun to visit in your home!”

“The inside of the property was as very small but clean and nice. The location wasn’t very pleasant view of neighborhood. No tv’s in bedrooms. Water smelled like rotten eggs and the sink in the bathroom ran dry slow. The view from the deck was amazing and the dock was great for fishing.”

“I stayed at the property with girlfriends and our dogs for a girls weekend. The property was clean and had everything that we needed for the weekend (and more). We loved the air hockey and ping pong in the basement. The host was very nice and was easy to get ahold of. I would definitely stay here again.”
