“The place was nice and clean. The property was well kept and everything seemed new and clean. The only questionable thing was the elevator. It made some weird noises and bumps going up. Also, breakfast could have had a little more variety.”

We made reception aware of what was going on. They did not seem in the least surprised or apologetic. They did offer us another room, but who in the right mind would stay there after seeing that?! “What a beautiful and relaxing spot. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Quiet and bucolic-yet close to town. ”

“Dog feces, indoors, in the front entryway. Hole in bathroom wall from door handle, spackle missing entirely or mold on the ceilings. It is absolutely not safe to stay here, door was messed with and jimmied during the night, but had the door barricaded, left before dawn and didn’t stay the second night. Ideal place to stay if you plan on cooking meth or have a deathwish.”

“There seemed to be a lot of male workers staying at this hotel which made my wife feel uneasy. The desk manager was by himself and was stretched. The first room we were given smelled like a wet dog, horrible.... amazing that housekeeping didn't correct this. We asked for another room and that was fine.”

“Would be nice to have two hand towels in bathroom and a bath mat. Great kitchen area. Great bed. Enjoyed the hot showers. Basically very clean, except floors. Stuffed chair in living area had dirty arms. Great TVs & internet.”

“The staff were fantastic! However the room was not very clean, holes in the walls, looked like someone burnt a hole in the floor, and smelt horrible! That being said, it was cheap and I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.”

“BEWARE OF THE NON DISCLOSURE OF $80 CLEANING OR TOWEL FEES - ADDED AT CHECK OUT. We booked our stay through Expedia, where the apparent "$80 towel fee" was buried deep in the terms and conditions. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed the extra charge. After three days of going back and forth with Expedia & Historic Berkeley, I was finally able to get the cleaning fee refunded from Expedia, even though the monies were collected at the hotel. “Easy access. Strange odor in the common area and slightly into the rooms. Only (3) towels provided for a room that sleeps (4). No towel/rug for the bathroom floor provided which creates a slippery situation - especially with kids! Bugs found in the pull out bed.”
