The couple that owns the motel are the main highlight: you will struggle to find more gracious, hospitable, friendly and helpful hosts anywhere in Newfoundland. The facilities are lovely and very distinct. The meals we had were excellent, including their very special (and very abundant) Jiggs Dinner which they offer every Sunday starting around noon, in the motel's main dining facility. “This is a cute and charming place if you like that old fashioned vibe. It had too many decorations for my taste though. The kitchen is very dated and the breakfast was self serve and very basic. Our room was very dusty, but it must be difficult to dust around the many items on display. There are a lot of labels and signs for the rules and regulations which took away from some of the charm.”

“We loved the sophisticated feel of staying in an older, elegant home. The breakfast was amazing and so nicely served in the dining room. Our room was very nice, and large. What we didn’t enjoy was the hilly walk from the parking to the house then a narrow staircase to our room. It was quite challenging.”

“Great for last minute overnight stay before catching a super early flight because of the proximity to the airport. Need a car to get to downtown, otherwise it’s a 40 min walk. Old-fashioned room with dated furniture.”

“As close to right downtown as can be at this price point. Understood what I was getting into with shared bathrooms, hearing other guests absolutely destroying the toilet while I'm taking a shower, not surprised the laundry card machine and multiple vending machines ate my change; it's whatever, I've stayed in student housing before and have had a great time. This time, however, was completely derailed by finding a bed bug directly before bed halfway through the trip. The front desk staff were...

“We had booked here 2 night arriving in NL and 2 nights leaving after 2 weeks touring . You are downtown and close to everything. $35 flat rate taxi fee from airport. Felt safe. Downtown Streets could use alittle TLC. Next to Duckworth pub which is famous for its fish and chips. Couldn’t tell you as it can be very busy. We even hiked to Quidi Viti via signal hill. But taxi home. The building is historic but quaint. Of course no elevator therefore stairs to rooms. Rooms were nice. Pay alittle...

“Staff were very pleasant and nice. TV in our room didn’t work. Given we were in the middle of the World Cup, we’re soccer fans, and we had a two night stay, that was a major inconvenience. Other than the reception personnel, no indication this was even attempted to be addressed and no offer of compensation. Did not make us feel valued.”
