The property is in decent shape for it's age. There are some areas of peeling paint and mis-matched knobs. The wait staff were outstanding! There were some issues, we had to wait 3 days for someone to bring water to the room via a request. The reservations for the restaurants with the concierge was a a struggle. They don't tell you where said restaurants are located or what type of food they serve or what the hours of service are. Since my husband had never been and I haven't visited there since 2005 or so. It was a challenge to find things. A few days later we meet some folks that told us we could get a map at the front desk, that map was not up to date with new restaurant names and locations. Again more frustration. We had a room up-grade from and casita to a swim-up casita, in the new room the fridge wasn't working and the ac unit made a clicking noise all night long. As a former travel agent I find it all just a too bit much to deal with when you go on vacation to relax and if is a bunch of hurry up and search for this or that. One more thing, I wouldn't recommend the El Dorado Royale/Casitas to clients that have limitations on walking because the so called shuttles are not on a regular schedule. It seemed like they were always going the opposite direction we were. Just a shout out to Carrasco our pool bartender, He was Outstanding! Always with a smile and a cold drink..
